Fresh rain topping the water up today, with just enough WSW wind to ripple the surface and steady pressure. Whatever swims in Lac Leroy should be near the seam between weed and open water. The evening should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones.

Lac Leroy falls in Capitale-Nationale, part of Quebec. It stands 404 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 20 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The edge runs 2.5 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Size puts it in the front rank of our Capitale-Nationale list. The closest town, Laurentides, is 13 km distant. La Tuque is 44 km and Sainte-Thècle 51 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Capitale-Nationale include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Lac Leroy gives up more to patience than to distance.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -15°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Leroy.
Public data does not answer the access question here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Omble de fontaine sits 890 m away and is marked for fishing. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. The nearest alternative is Lac Habin, 0.5 km out. Where Lac Leroy is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
