Rain on and off through the day, with a useful SSW wind pushing food about and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Laplume along inflow corners and shaded margins. Set the alarm around the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

In Quebec, Lac Laplume belongs to Nord-du-Québec. It lies 396 metres above sea level. At 7 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Nord-du-Québec list holds plenty of bigger water. Chapais lies 62 km from the water. Saguenay sits 261 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Read Lac Laplume for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
The range across the year is -19°C to 16°C. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Laplume.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Access points are not mapped for this water, which suits people who like quiet. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. If the gate is shut, Lac Present at 1.1 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Lac Laplume should be assumed from this page alone.
