Wet weather working through today, with a stiffish breeze from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Lac Geneve should centre on windblown banks where food collects. Make the night the heart of the trip. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Within Nord-du-Québec, Quebec, you have Lac Geneve. The water sits 401 metres up. Surface area is around 30 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Around 2.6 km of margin, front to back. It is a small entry by Nord-du-Québec standards. Chapais is the closest town at 70 km. Then Chibougamau, 72 km, and Leblanc, 112 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Across Nord-du-Québec, recorded fish include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Geneve the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Climate records put July near 16°C and January near -19°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Expect Lac Geneve to follow that timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. The nearest alternative is Lac Tooke, 2.3 km out. Treat Lac Geneve as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
