Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with just enough SSW wind to ripple the surface with the barometer flat. The water to cover at Lac Jajeca is the seam between weed and open water. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Outaouais, Quebec, is where Lac Jajeca sits. Mixed forest runs right down to the water. Small at around 6 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Deep River is the closest place, 50 km off. Gatineau is the closest city, 154 km away. Close neighbours run: Lac Resolin a shade over 1.7 km, Lac Thomas a touch under 2 km, Lac Trillium a shade over 2.1 km, Lac Tortue a touch under 2.3 km and Petit lac Wellie a shade over 2.5 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. On Lac Jajeca a short move beats a long cast.
Long-term averages put July at about 18°C and January near -14°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Climate figures give an open season running late April to late November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lac Jajeca.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. The nearest alternative is Lac Resolin, 1.7 km out. None of that is settled for Lac Jajeca in what we hold.
