Rain on and off through the day, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Hugo should hold close to the shaded margin through bright spells. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

In Quebec, Lac Hugo falls inside Laurentides. The surface lies 479 metres up. It measures about 22 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The full circuit measures close to 2.5 km on foot. Rivière-Rouge at 27 km is the nearest place to stop. Further out sit Labelle (28 km) and Saint-Donat-de-Montcalm (31 km). It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Open biodiversity records for Laurentides list pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Take Lac Hugo a stretch at a time.
Long-term averages put July at about 17°C and January near -15°C. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer and winter test it. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. That is the shape of the year on Lac Hugo.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Wop at 1.5 km is the sensible second choice. Ask locally about Lac Hugo if anything is unclear.
