Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Lac Descoteaux is windblown banks where food collects. A middling, even day, steady rather than spectacular. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Look for Lac Descoteaux in Laurentides, Quebec. Around the bank it is lake country bush. Rivière-Rouge sits 26 km from the bank. After that come Labelle at 28 km and Mont-Tremblant at 33 km. Water in the same corner: Lac Buri at 1.2 km, Lac Cato some 1.2 km off, Lac Lache at 1.5 km, Lac Wop some 1.6 km off and Lac Hugo at 2 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Descoteaux repays a walk before the first cast.
Expect July to average close to 17°C, with January the cold end at about -15°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. It holds true on Lac Descoteaux more years than not.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Should this one be busy, Lac Buri is 1.2 km off. Signs at Lac Descoteaux carry more weight than any list.
