Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with light air out of the S with the barometer flat. The productive water at Lac Gilbert will be around the calm side of the wind. The numbers single out the morning. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Estrie records list rainbow trout, white sucker and pumpkinseed among the fish reported. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Read Lac Gilbert for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Long-term averages put July at about 19°C and January near -10°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Count the season from break-up, usually mid April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid April and starts locking again about early December. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Plan around that when you fish Lac Gilbert.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. You can park 390 m away and walk in from there. There are toilets 380 m off. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Etang Peasley sits 1.6 km off and takes the overflow. Ask locally about Lac Gilbert if anything is unclear.
