Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a gentle ripple from the S and no real change in pressure. Activity on Lac Nick should centre on the first drop-off and weed lines. The morning should out-fish the rest of the day. Small adjustments will matter more than big moves. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Nick falls in Estrie, part of Quebec. It stands 242 metres above sea level. It measures about 48 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. With 5.8 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. For a base, Lac-Brome sits 15 km out. Beyond it, Magog at 15 km and Waterloo at 21 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Estrie, recorded fish include rainbow trout, white sucker and pumpkinseed. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Read Lac Nick before you fish it and the day goes better.
The seasonal spread runs -10°C to 19°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Winter locks it down, and mid April brings it back. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid April and starts locking again about early December. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. The season on Lac Nick follows the weather closely.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. A pier or jetty stands 310 m away, which helps on a crowded bank. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Etang Olive sits 1.3 km off and takes the overflow. What applies at Lac Nick may have changed since it was mapped.
