A closed sky with even light today, with a faint SSW drift with the barometer flat. Whatever swims in Lac Frime should be near shallow cover and weed edges. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Frime belongs to Laurentides, Quebec. The bank is 225 metres above sea level. At about 13 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. The closest town, Saint-Boniface, is 47 km distant. Gatineau sits 162 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Anyone new to Lac Frime should walk it once before setting up.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -16°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Ice is part of the season here, ending near late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Lac Frime runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Lac Minou at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. For Lac Frime in particular, ask before you travel.
