Soft grey light all day today, with just enough S wind to ripple the surface with the glass holding level. On Lac Camomille, work inflow corners and shaded margins first. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

The Laurentides entry here is Lac Camomille, in Quebec. It sits in mixed forest country. This is a pocket water of some 4 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. The nearest place of any size is Saint-Boniface, 49 km away. For a city, Gatineau is 165 km off. Also within reach: Lac Menthe within 1 km, Lac Amer sits 1.2 km out, Lac Verveine within 1.7 km, Lac Etoc sits 2.5 km out and Lac Vetuste within 3 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. At Lac Camomille light and wind decide more than tackle does.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -16°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. After late April the shallows warm and the fish move up. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Anyone fishing Lac Camomille regularly works to that calendar.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Failing this one, try Lac Menthe, 1 km away. Where Lac Camomille is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
