Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a faint SSW drift and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Epris along bays that hold the day's warmth. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Look for Lac Epris in the Laurentides part of Quebec. Elevation runs to 252 metres. The water covers some 13 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. About 1.7 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Saint-Boniface sits 50 km from the bank. Gatineau sits 166 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Public occurrence data for Laurentides names pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. At Lac Epris light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July near 18°C and January near -16°C on the long-run figures. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. On Lac Epris that shapes the whole year.
No access rule appears in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lac Morille at 1.2 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Lac Epris should be assumed from this page alone.
