Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with the water lying quiet with a settled glass. Fish at Lac Faulx should hold close to the calm side of the wind. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Lac Faulx is an Abitibi-Témiscamingue water, Quebec side. The surface lies 369 metres up. At about 11 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. There is roughly 1.8 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. The closest town, Val-d'Or, is 102 km away. For a city, Gatineau is 237 km off. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Survey and observation records for Abitibi-Témiscamingue include northern pike, yellow perch, walleye and white sucker. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Faulx the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 17°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Break-up near late April, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. On Lac Faulx the same rules apply, with local timing.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Hurtault, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Faulx in what we hold.
