Blue sky from bank to bank today, with enough WNW wind to stack food downwind and no real change in pressure. Activity on Lac Ed should centre on bays that hold the day's warmth. Numbers are low everywhere; the night is the pick of them. Scale down and fish slowly. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Ed is a Chaudière-Appalaches water, Quebec side. The water sits 633 metres up. Surface area runs to about 6 hectares — small enough to read in one session. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Supplies mean a trip to Linière, 16 km off. After that come Saint-Côme--Linière at 26 km and Saint-Georges at 37 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Public occurrence data for Chaudière-Appalaches names lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon and longnose sucker. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Lac Ed gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -13°C in January. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Ice clears near late April and comes back about late November in a typical year. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. Lac Ed runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Lac Yvan, 1 km away. For Lac Ed, the notice at the access point is the final word.
