Clear conditions and high sun today, with a busy WNW wind on the open water and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Lac du Canard is the calm side of the wind. A grinding day likely, with the night worth the effort if any is. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Lac du Canard lies within the bounds of Chaudière-Appalaches, Quebec. Everything around it is rolling bush. This is a pocket water of some 9 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It sits higher than most water we list in Quebec. Linière lies 15 km from the water. Saint-Côme--Linière lies 25 km off, Saint-Georges another 36 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. County-wide records name lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. At Lac du Canard the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -13°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. The open-water window runs from around late April to about late November in an average year. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Lac du Canard runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For walleye, a jig and minnow near the bottom is the standard; evenings beat middays. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Ed is 1.1 km distant. What applies at Lac du Canard may have changed since it was mapped.
