Clear conditions and high sun today, with enough WSW wind to stack food downwind and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac du Brochet should hold close to windblown banks where food collects. Block out the hours from the day. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Lac du Brochet is an Estrie water, Quebec side. The bank is 321 metres above sea level. The water covers some 16 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. With about 1.7 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. For supplies, Disraeli is 13 km out. After that come Saint-Joseph-de-Coleraine at 20 km and Weedon Centre at 22 km. A border sits close enough to be relevant to the paperwork.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name rainbow trout, white sucker, pumpkinseed, brook trout and rainbow smelt. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. Fish Lac du Brochet to its features, not to its size.
Long-term averages put July at about 18°C and January near -12°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around late April. Averages suggest open water from about late April through to roughly late November. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. It holds true on Lac du Brochet more years than not.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac des Atacas at 1 km is the sensible second choice. Check the position at Lac du Brochet before loading the car.
