A closed sky with even light today, with a light SW breeze with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Lac des Iles around the shallows early and the drop later. The morning is where the day comes good. Ride the conditions while they last. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Lac des Iles in Estrie, Quebec. Elevation runs to 303 metres. At some 1.97 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The edge covers about 12 km, enough to hold several distinct areas. Size puts it in the front rank of our Estrie list. The closest town, Disraeli, is 17 km distant. Further out sit Weedon Centre (23 km) and Saint-Joseph-de-Coleraine (24 km). One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Estrie, recorded fish include rainbow trout, white sucker and pumpkinseed. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Take Lac des Iles a stretch at a time.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near -12°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Anyone fishing Lac des Iles regularly works to that calendar.
No access rule appears in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Lac des Îles provides a boat ramp about 1.1 km away. A jetty or pier is mapped about 840 m from here. Doré is the mapped fishing point, 260 m out. Facilities run to toilets 880 m from the water. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. If the gate is shut, Lac Noble at 0.8 km is the nearest alternative. None of that is settled for Lac des Iles in what we hold.
