Showers crossing the water today, with stillness over the whole water and steady pressure. Most of the action on Lac Dow should come off the shallows early and the drop later. The useful hours run night into morning. Stay patient; middling days often turn late. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

This water sits in Mauricie, Quebec. Height above sea level is 403 metres. The water measures roughly 5 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. La Tuque sits 20 km from the bank. Laurentides lies 40 km off, Sainte-Thècle another 71 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it. Conditions change the water more than the calendar does.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout and walleye. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Lac Dow responds to conditions more than to tactics.
On the long-term average, July reads 17°C and January reads -16°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around early May. Ice clears near early May and comes back about mid November in a typical year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Anyone fishing Lac Dow regularly works to that calendar.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Lac Molson is 0.7 km distant. Nothing on Lac Dow should be assumed from this page alone.
