Wet weather working through today, with the water lying quiet and pressure sitting still. The water to cover at Petit lac Vimy is shallow cover and weed edges. The day fishes best from night into morning. Pick two or three spots and rotate them. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Petit lac Vimy stands in Mauricie, Quebec. What surrounds it is pine and birch. At roughly 4 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. Our Mauricie list holds plenty of bigger water. La Tuque lies 21 km from the water. After that come Laurentides at 38 km and Sainte-Thècle at 70 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout and walleye. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Petit lac Vimy that means starting tight and working out.
The year swings from about -16°C in January to roughly 17°C in July. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. Break-up sits around early May on average, with the water closing again about mid November. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Petit lac Vimy runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Should this one be busy, Grand lac Vimy is 1 km off. None of that is settled for Petit lac Vimy in what we hold.
