Fresh rain topping the water up today, with next to no ripple and pressure sitting still. Activity on Lac Pouliot should centre on structure within a cast of the bank. The forecast backs the stretch from night into morning. Settle in and let the day develop. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac Pouliot lies within the bounds of Mauricie, Quebec. The ground around here is pine and birch. It covers about 2 hectares, so this is small water you can walk round in under an hour. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Mauricie. Nearest place of any size is La Tuque, 21 km away. It is 121 km to Sainte-Foy, the nearest city. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
We hold no depth figure for this one. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Mauricie include northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Pouliot the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Seasonal averages run from -16°C in January up to 17°C in July. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. Plan around that when you fish Lac Pouliot.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. For a change of water, Lac Doc is 1.9 km distant. For Lac Pouliot, the notice at the access point is the final word.
