Solid cloud cover today, with light air out of the S and pressure going nowhere. Start the search at Lac Dore along sheltered bays and points. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Lac Dore lies within the bounds of Laurentides, Quebec. The surroundings are rolling bush. The water covers some 24 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Around 2.5 km of margin, front to back. The town to know is Ferme-Neuve, 21 km out. Orléans is the closest city, 144 km away. Also worth knowing: Lac David-Lord 0.9 km, Lac Bouleau 1.3 km away, Lac des Cornes 1.9 km, Lac de la Bouette 3 km away and Lac Perodeau 3.1 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in Laurentides include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. At Lac Dore the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Climate records put July near 18°C and January near -15°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. That is the shape of the year on Lac Dore.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac David-Lord, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat access at Lac Dore as something to verify.
