Soft grey light all day today, with a proper ripple driven from the SSW and pressure going nowhere. The productive water at Lac Dente will be around points where shallow meets deep. The strongest window is the night. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Quebec holds Lac Dente, in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean. The surface lies 563 metres up. It is high ground by Quebec standards. For a base, Leblanc sits 70 km out. Then Weymontachie, 73 km, and Saint-Félicien, 78 km. Also within reach: 1.2 km away is Lac du Genevrier, Lac du Chicot out at 1.2 km, 1.7 km away is Lac Ocelot, Lac de la Chouette out at 2.5 km and 3 km away is Lac de l'Adiante. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Survey and observation records for Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon and lake whitefish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Read Lac Dente for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -18°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough early May. Climate averages put the opening at about early May and the closing near mid November. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. The season on Lac Dente rarely departs from it.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Lac du Genevrier is 1.2 km off. Signs at Lac Dente carry more weight than any list.
