An even grey lid over the water, with light air out of the SSW with the glass holding level. The productive water at Lac Deguire will be around the weed line and any gaps in it. Little to get excited about, though the night holds a sliver of promise. Lower the pace and stay patient. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Deguire is listed under Outaouais, Quebec. It sits in rolling bush country. With some 55 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Roughly 4.9 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Few waters listed in Outaouais are bigger. 37 km away sits Saint-Boniface, the nearest town. Maniwaki follows at 48 km, then Saint-Raphaël at 61 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. On Lac Deguire the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -16°C in January. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Winter locks it down, and late April brings it back. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near late November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. At Lac Deguire the season follows that pattern closely.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. Lac Sapeque sits 1.9 km off and takes the overflow. For Lac Deguire, the notice at the access point is the final word.
