Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a kind SSW breeze on the water and steady pressure. Give sheltered bays and points the first hour at Lac Apollo. The forecast is against you; the middle of the day is the least bad option. Short, focused sessions beat a long grind today. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Apollo stands in Outaouais, Quebec. It sits at 245 metres above sea level. Roughly 25 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The bank runs about 2.5 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Start from Saint-Boniface, 36 km down the road. Maniwaki is 48 km away, with Ferme-Neuve at 60 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Open biodiversity records for Outaouais list pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Lac Apollo that means starting tight and working out.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -16°C in January. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. The season between ice runs from about late April to late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lac Apollo runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is a mapped slipway roughly 1.3 km away. You will be walking about 1.4 km from the nearest car park. Mapping shows a campsite some 1 km from the water. Mapping records toilets within 860 m. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Lac Aumance, 0.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Lac Apollo in what we hold.
