Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SW with the barometer flat. Start the search at Lac Corail along sheltered bays and points. The forecast is against you; the evening is the least bad option. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Lac Corail is one of the Côte-Nord waters in Quebec. The shore lies 8.1 km out. At about 22 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Around 3.4 km of margin, front to back. It lies lower than most water we list in Quebec. Nearest town is Baie-Comeau, 50 km off. It is 282 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. This one is safely inside the county line.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Côte-Nord records list logperch among the fish reported. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. The near bank of Lac Corail is often the one people ignore.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -14°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Break-up near early May, freeze-up near late November: that is the shape of an average year. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. At Lac Corail the season follows that pattern closely.
Access is not recorded for this water. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Cleophas at 1.3 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Lac Corail in what we hold.
