Heavy overcast holding through the day, with light air out of the SW and pressure going nowhere. Activity on Lac Castor should centre on structure within a cast of the bank. The forecast is against you; the evening is the least bad option. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Night
Look for Lac Castor in the Côte-Nord part of Quebec. The coast is 12 km away. At 3 hectares it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Our Côte-Nord list holds plenty of bigger water. Baie-Comeau is the closest place, 53 km off. Then Hauterive, 62 km, and Matane, 67 km. Near neighbours: 0.8 km away is Lac Clair, Lac Outarde just 0.9 km, 1.5 km away is Lac a l'Ours, Lac du Camp just 1.7 km and 1.8 km away is Lac a Real. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth figures are not published for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Records held for Côte-Nord cover logperch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. The shape of Lac Castor rewards a slow walk along one bank.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -14°C. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. The season on Lac Castor rarely departs from it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. Perch take small lures and worms fished near the bottom close to structure. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Keep proof of licence with you rather than in the car. For a change of water, Lac Clair is 0.8 km distant. The position on Lac Castor is worth confirming on the day.
