A grey, even sky over the water, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW and no real change in pressure. Lac Ciral should fish best around the weed line and any gaps in it today. Make the night the heart of the trip. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lac Ciral is one of the Mauricie listings for Quebec. The bank gives way to spruce and muskeg. At roughly 3 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. On size it sits at the modest end of our Mauricie list. 73 km away sits Leblanc, the nearest town. Beyond it, Chapais at 104 km and Chibougamau at 111 km. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
The records we hold are silent on depth, so plan to find it yourself. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. County-wide records name northern pike, brook trout, walleye and yellow perch. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. At Lac Ciral light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Once it clears, about early May, the fishing comes on quickly. In an average year the thaw lands around early May and the freeze near mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. It sets the rhythm of the year at Lac Ciral.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Lac Ned at 0.7 km is the sensible second choice. Rules at Lac Ciral are worth checking on the day.
