Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with enough SSW wind to stack food downwind and steady pressure. Start the search at Lac Caody along the shaded margin through bright spells. The night carries the best of the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Look for Lac Caody in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. Everything around it is boreal forest. Around 26 hectares of surface means several distinct areas to work. About 5.0 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. It is high ground by Quebec standards. The nearest town is Weymontachie, 70 km away. Saguenay is the closest city, 172 km away. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean: northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Fish Lac Caody where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Average temperature peaks around 16°C in July and bottoms out near -18°C in January. Little of the calendar is open water, so timing counts for everything. Ice-out usually falls in early May, and the weeks after it fish hardest. Ice usually gives way near early May, and forms again about mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Expect Lac Caody to follow that timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Lac Fictif is 1.4 km distant. None of that is settled for Lac Caody in what we hold.
