A closed sky with even light today, with dead-still conditions with the barometer flat. The water to cover at Lac Bromo is the first drop-off and weed lines. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lac Bromo lies within the bounds of Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec. It sits at 552 metres above sea level. With some 28 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The edge runs 2.9 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. It is high ground by Quebec standards. The town to know is Saint-Félicien, 69 km out. It is 170 km to Saguenay, the nearest city. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. The near bank of Lac Bromo is often the one people ignore.
In an average year July sits at 16°C and January at -18°C. The freeze holds for the better part of the year. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near early May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around early May and starts locking again about mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. That is the shape of the year on Lac Bromo.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Lac Pakane at 1.5 km is the nearest alternative. Rules at Lac Bromo are worth checking on the day.
