Lac Cache Fishing near Laurentides, Quebec

• Overview

  Out in Capitale-Nationale, Quebec, sits Lac Cache. Height above sea level is 303 metres. Some 16 km away sits Laurentides, the nearest settlement. It is 70 km to Sainte-Foy, the nearest city. Also within reach: Lac Vingt-Cinq 1 km, Lac de la Ferme out at 1.1 km, Lac Noir 1.6 km, Lac du Milieu out at 1.6 km and Lac Vert 1.7 km. This one is safely inside the county line.

• Where to Fish on Lac Cache

  There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Capitale-Nationale, recorded fish include lake sturgeon, Atlantic sturgeon, longnose sucker and sauger. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Lac Cache the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.

Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around late April. Open water usually runs from late April until about late November.
