Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SSE and the barometer holding steady. The fish at Lac Cache are likely to sit near the weed line and any gaps in it. A tough forecast; the evening offers the only real chance. Save the long walk for a better forecast.

No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Fish documented in Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Lac Cache repays a walk before the first cast.
July runs about 16°C on average, January about -18°C. A short, intense season is the rule this far north. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The open-water window runs from around early May to about mid November in an average year. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. The season on Lac Cache follows the weather closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Lac de la Truite at 2.3 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Lac Cache should be assumed from this page alone.
