Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a light chop building from the SSE and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Lac Belanray should come off shallow cover and weed edges. A hard day on paper; the evening edges the rest. Lower the pace and stay patient. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

The Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean end of Quebec holds Lac Belanray. The coast is 28 km away. The whole thing is a single swim; walk it in a minute. On size it sits at the modest end of our Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean list. Saint-Honoré at 19 km is the nearest place to stop. The big place round here is Saguenay, 32 km distant. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Across Saguenay/Lac-Saint-Jean, recorded fish include northern pike, Atlantic salmon, lake whitefish and fallfish. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. The shape of Lac Belanray rewards a slow walk along one bank.
The warm month here averages 17°C; the cold one sits at -18°C. Water stays cold even at the height of the year. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. The season on Lac Belanray follows the weather closely.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Should this one be busy, Lac H.-Cote is 0.8 km off. Signs at Lac Belanray carry more weight than any list.
