An even grey lid over the water, with stillness over the whole water and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Lac Burne around inflow corners and shaded margins. Little to get excited about, though the middle of the day holds a sliver of promise. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water.

Lac Burne lies in Laurentides, in Quebec. The bank gives way to northern bush. Surface area is around 12 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. About 1.8 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. The closest town, Ferme-Neuve, is 92 km distant. The big place round here is Gatineau, 226 km distant. Within a short drive: Lac Skip out at 1.3 km, Lac Chasse just 1.4 km, Lac Lucky out at 2.4 km, Lac Red just 3 km and Lac Snake out at 3 km. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brook trout and rock bass. The county list is broader than any single water. On Lac Burne the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
The warm month here averages 17°C; the cold one sits at -17°C. This far north the hard season runs and runs. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around early May. Averages place the thaw at early May and the freeze at mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Lac Burne rarely departs from it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No made access is recorded, so a short walk in is the likely arrangement. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Lac Skip sits 1.3 km off and takes the overflow. Treat Lac Burne as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
