Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with calm air over the water and pressure going nowhere. Fish at Lac Lux should hold close to the margins and the shelf beyond them. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

In Quebec, Lac Lux belongs to Laurentides. The surface lies 392 metres up. It measures about 15 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The bank runs about 2.5 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. The nearest town is Ferme-Neuve, 88 km away. Manawan lies 99 km off, Mont-Laurier another 105 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Records held for Laurentides cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. Take Lac Lux a stretch at a time.
Typical July readings run about 17°C; by January the average is down near -17°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. Right after break-up, and again as the nights sharpen, is when to go. Lac Lux runs to its own calendar within the local pattern.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. If the gate is shut, Lac Snake at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. Confirm before you fish Lac Lux.
