Flat light and a covered sky today, with barely a breath of wind and no real change in pressure. Give the weed line and any gaps in it the first hour at Lac Allan. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Out in Laurentides, Quebec, sits Lac Allan. The setting is spruce and muskeg. Surface area is around 23 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Roughly 2.9 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Ferme-Neuve sits 95 km from here and is the nearest stop. Manawan lies 101 km off, Mont-Laurier another 111 km. No boundary runs near, so the local rules hold throughout.
Without a survey to go on, judge depth from how the bank falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Laurentides, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, yellow perch and brook trout. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Fish Lac Allan where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Average temperature peaks around 17°C in July and bottoms out near -17°C in January. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Break-up comes around early May, and the run that follows is short and strong. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. At Lac Allan the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Access is unmapped, which usually means a farm track and a walk. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Lac Snail, 1.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lac Allan as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
