Flat light and a covered sky today, with just enough ESE wind to ripple the surface with the glass holding level. On Lac Arbique, work reed fringes and open pockets first. The day fishes best from the day. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Bundle up; the fishing will be slow but not impossible.

Look for Lac Arbique in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. It stands 366 metres above sea level. At some 6.74 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The outline measures near 25 km, so a boat opens up water the bank never reaches. By size it stands out even at Quebec level. Kuujjuaq is the closest town at 298 km. Inukjuak follows at 457 km, then Sanikiluaq at 460 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
Depth figures are not published for this one. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Records held for Nord-du-Québec cover Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout and lake whitefish. County data is a starting point rather than a guarantee. The near bank of Lac Arbique is often the one people ignore.
Averages move between -25°C in January and 13°C in July. Open water arrives late and leaves early, which concentrates the fishing. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late May. In an average year the thaw lands around late May and the freeze near late October. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Plan any trip to Lac Arbique around it.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping records no facilities at all near this water. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. Failing this one, try Lac La Baziniere, 21 km away. Ask locally about Lac Arbique if anything is unclear.
