No direct sun expected today, with a light ESE breeze with a settled glass. Most of the action on Lac Gigon should come off windblown banks where food collects. A long productive spell runs the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. A properly cold day, so expect slow, deliberate fishing.

Lac Gigon sits in Nord-du-Québec, out in Quebec. What surrounds it is spruce and muskeg. At 3.71 sq km this is proper open water rather than a pond. Around 21 km of bank, which is a long day on foot. The nearest place of any size is Kuujjuaq, 311 km away. After that come Inukjuak at 431 km and Sanikiluaq at 433 km. One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Species logged across Nord-du-Québec include Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. Lac Gigon fishes better once you know its edges.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 13°C, while January sits near -25°C. The year here is short and sharp: a long lid, then a burst of open water. Winter locks it down, and early June brings it back. The season between ice runs from about early June to late October. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Plan around that when you fish Lac Gigon.
Nothing on record says whether the bank is open or closed. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Should this one be busy, Lac Divelet is 23 km off. Ask locally about Lac Gigon if anything is unclear.
