An even grey lid over the water, with light air out of the ESE and steady pressure. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Lac La Baziniere. Plan around the stretch from the day. Keep moving until you find them. Cold air keeps the water sluggish; scale everything down.

This water sits in Nord-du-Québec, Quebec. The surface lies 366 metres up. It measures some 4.83 sq km, and wind has room to build across it. There is roughly 42 km of bank, and each arm behaves like its own water. The closest town, Kuujjuaq, is 314 km distant. Labrador City is 460 km away, with Sanikiluaq at 464 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Nord-du-Québec records list Arctic charr, brook trout, lake trout, lake whitefish and cisco among the fish reported. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. At Lac La Baziniere the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Expect July near 13°C and January near -25°C on the long-run figures. Everything is compressed into the middle of the year. Count the season from break-up, usually late May. Expect the water usable from around late May until roughly late October. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Lac La Baziniere fishes to that pattern most years.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Trout here take small spinners, spoons and, where fly water allows, a nymph or dry. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. For a change of water, Lac Arbique is 21 km distant. Nothing on Lac La Baziniere should be assumed from this page alone.
