Soft grey light all day today, with a soft SW wind and the barometer holding steady. The fish at Lac Agrotide are likely to sit near the first drop-off and weed lines. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Set in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Quebec, this is Lac Agrotide. The bank is 360 metres above sea level. Small at around 7 hectares: two anglers spread out cover most of it. Senneterre at 110 km is the nearest place to stop. The nearest city of size is Gatineau, 237 km away. Nearby, in order: Lac Sail about 0.7 km, Lac Calville (1.1 km), Lac Vains about 1.5 km, Lac Irma (1.6 km) and Lac Vicar about 1.6 km. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. County-wide records name northern pike, yellow perch and walleye. The county list is broader than any single water. At Lac Agrotide the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -17°C. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from early May. From about early May to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. That is the shape of the year on Lac Agrotide.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Nothing is mapped in the way of a ramp or car park within a short radius. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. If the gate is shut, Lac Sail at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. What applies at Lac Agrotide may have changed since it was mapped.
