Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with light air out of the SSW with a settled glass. Start the search at Lac a la Bague along the shallows early and the drop later. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Lac a la Bague falls in Outaouais, part of Quebec. Height above sea level is 334 metres. It measures about 18 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Around 2.0 km of margin, front to back. The nearest place of any size is Saint-Boniface, 49 km away. Further out sit Maniwaki (59 km) and Saint-Raphaël (70 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name pumpkinseed, yellow perch and smallmouth bass. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. The shape of Lac a la Bague decides where the fish sit.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near -16°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. In an average year the thaw lands around late April and the freeze near late November. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. The season on Lac a la Bague rarely departs from it.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Lac Pagolle is 1.3 km off. Where Lac a la Bague is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
