A grey, even sky over the water, with a light chop building from the SSW and the barometer holding steady. Start the search at Lac Duffel along structure within a cast of the bank. Numbers are low everywhere; the morning is the pick of them. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

The Outaouais end of Quebec holds Lac Duffel. Country round the bank runs to mixed forest. It is pond-in-a-field scale, with the far bank a short lob away. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Outaouais. For a base, Saint-Boniface sits 52 km out. Maniwaki lies 63 km off, Saint-Raphaël another 74 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Across Outaouais, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, yellow perch, smallmouth bass and rainbow smelt. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Treat Lac Duffel as a water to read rather than to cover.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 17°C, while January sits near -16°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around late April. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Lac Duffel runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Access status is simply unknown for this water. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. For a change of water, Lac Badin is 0.5 km distant. For Lac Duffel in particular, ask before you travel.
