Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a firm WSW blow with a settled glass. On Mill Lake, work any hard bottom among the soft first. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

One jurisdiction covers this water end to end.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Algoma include walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. The near bank of Mill Lake is often the one people ignore.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -13°C in January. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly late November. Just after the ice goes and just before it returns, the fishing lifts. Anyone fishing Mill Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Salvage Lake sits 2.8 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Mill Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
