Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with dead-still conditions and no real change in pressure. The productive water at Lake of Many Islands will be around inflow corners and shaded margins. A tough forecast; the evening offers the only real chance. Save the long walk for a better forecast.

Lake of Many Islands is listed under Parry Sound District, Ontario. The surface lies 304 metres up. The water covers around 2.43 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. The perimeter runs near 17 km, so plan the walk before you start. Few waters listed in Parry Sound District are bigger. Head to South River, 25 km away, for anything you forgot. Further out sit Powassan (40 km) and Parry Sound (54 km). It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Parry Sound District records list smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch and northern pike among the fish reported. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. At Lake of Many Islands the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
Seasonal averages run from -11°C in January up to 18°C in July. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. Climate averages put the opening at about late April and the closing near early December. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. At Lake of Many Islands the season follows that pattern closely.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Little Spring Lake sits 3.5 km off and takes the overflow. Treat access at Lake of Many Islands as something to verify.
