  Shields Lake is one of the Fraser Valley Regional District waters in British Columbia. The surface lies 1,709 metres up. • Where to Fish on Shields Lake

  Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Fraser Valley Regional District records list white sturgeon, sockeye salmon and Coho salmon among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. On Shields Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.

  The warm month here averages 12°C; the cold one sits at -7°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May.
