Snow softening the light today, with air barely moving and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Caltha Lake should come off the shallows early and the drop later. A stay-home graph, with the middle of the day as the one excuse to go. Downsize everything and pick the calmest water. The cold will pin fish to deeper, stable water.

Caltha Lake lies in Fraser Valley Regional District, in British Columbia. The ground round it is pine and birch. At roughly 6 hectares, the whole thing is within casting reach of a single walk. It is high ground by British Columbia standards. Supplies mean a trip to Mount Currie, 36 km off. Pemberton is 41 km and Whistler 47 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Fraser Valley Regional District cover white sturgeon, sockeye salmon and Coho salmon. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Fish Caltha Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
Temperature averages peak at 11°C in August and bottom out at -8°C in January. The year runs cold to warm and back, with clear transitions. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid May. On the long-run averages the water opens up around mid May and starts locking again about early November. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. The season on Caltha Lake follows the weather closely.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Figure Eight Lake, 2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Caltha Lake in what we hold.
