A still, cloudless night on the water, with an easy breeze from the NE with the barometer flat. Activity on Reedy Lake should centre on reed fringes and open pockets. The night is where the day comes good. Make the first hour count and build on it. Spring rewards the bank that catches the sun.

Reedy Lake is set in Gannawarra, Victoria. It sits in scrub and brush country. At some 1.79 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. The shoreline runs about 5.0 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. For supplies, Kerang is 7.2 km out. Barham follows at 23 km, then Cohuna at 34 km. Within a short drive: Middle Lake within 2 km, Salt Lake just 3.5 km, Third Lake within 4 km, Pelican Lake just 5.3 km and Lake Elizabeth within 5.7 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Biodiversity records within roughly six miles include common carp, goldfish, golden perch, Murray cod and silver perch. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. On Reedy Lake that means starting tight and working out.
Long-term averages put February at about 23°C and July near 9°C. Cold never becomes a factor on this one. Levels swing with the wet season, which moves the fishing about. June through August is cool but far from dead. Time your trip to Reedy Lake by conditions rather than dates. Short days concentrate it into a narrow window.
Our records carry no access rule either way. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. A ramp at Apex Park Road is mapped 880 m away. The car has to stay 950 m away, which shapes how much tackle you bring. Mapping shows a campsite some 900 m from the water. There is a toilet block some 950 m out. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Middle Lake, 2 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the position at Reedy Lake before loading the car.
