Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with stillness over the whole water with pressure dropping. Give sheltered bays and points the first hour at Star Lake. The day holds up well from morning through afternoon. Work the productive water thoroughly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Star Lake is set in Wasatch County, Utah. Around the bank it is mixed forest. At 19 acres it is the sort of place you fish for an evening rather than a day. Head to Kamas, 18 miles away, for anything you forgot. Francis lies 18 miles off, Oakley another 19 miles. In the same area: 0.4 miles away is Diamond Lake Marion at about 0.5 miles, 0.7 miles away is Trial Lake, Hope Lake at about 0.7 miles and 0.8 miles away is Lost Lake Number Two. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Our records hold no depth for this water. Rip-rap along the wall holds fish that the open bank never does. The arms fish better than the open middle whenever the water is up. Open biodiversity records for Wasatch County list brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout, black-spotted cutthroat trout and Utah sucker. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. At Star Lake the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 55°F, while December sits near 19°F. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. The freeze runs deep into the year, with break-up near late May. On average, late May opens the water and mid November closes it again. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. That shapes the year on Star Lake.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. You will be walking about 0.9 miles from the nearest car park. Overnight stays are possible about half a mile out, where camping is mapped. There are toilets half a mile off. For the trout, small spinners and a box of nymphs cover both approaches. Some banks are open only from a marked point. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Diamond Lake is 0.4 miles off. For Star Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
