A closed sky with even light today, with next to no ripple and a falling glass. The productive water at Hope Lake will be around sheltered bays and points. The productive run goes morning through afternoon. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Look for Hope Lake in the Wasatch County part of Utah. The water sits 10,351 feet up. A pocket of water where every cast reaches cover. It is a small entry by Wasatch County standards. You are 18 miles from Kamas. Oakley follows at 18 miles, then Francis at 18 miles. Neighbouring water: Wall Lake 0.4 miles away, South Twin Lake sits 0.4 miles out, North Twin Lake 0.5 miles away, Lovenia Lake sits 0.7 miles out and Star Lake 0.7 miles away. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Species logged across Wasatch County include brown trout, rainbow trout, brook trout and black-spotted cutthroat trout. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. Fish Hope Lake to its features, not to its size.
Between December at about 19°F and July at about 55°F, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Once it clears, about late May, the fishing comes on quickly. On average, late May opens the water and mid November closes it again. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. Expect Hope Lake to follow that timing.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Light line and small metal for the trout; a fly rod earns its place on calm evenings. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Wall Lake sits 0.4 miles off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Hope Lake for certain.
