Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a helpful ripple pushed from the W and the barometer on the way down. Start the search at Pocahontas Lake along inflow corners and shaded margins. Plan around the stretch from afternoon into evening. Keep moving until you find them. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

You will find Pocahontas Lake in Hardeman County, Tennessee. This is pine and hardwood ground. This is a pocket water of some 7 acres, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. It is a small entry by Hardeman County standards. Nearest town is Selmer, 11 miles off. Beyond it, Corinth at 16 miles and Bolivar at 18 miles. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Look for where the old bank line still shows under the surface. The arms fish better than the open middle whenever the water is up. County-wide records name gulf darter, dusky darter, brighteye darter and bandfin darter. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Pocahontas Lake that means starting tight and working out.
The seasonal spread runs 38°F to 79°F. Heat sets the pattern from late spring onward. Spring and autumn carry the fishing; summer squeezes it into the edges of the day. April and May are the settled weeks, with October close behind. It sets the rhythm of the year at Pocahontas Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the panfish, a small hook, a float and a piece of worm outfish everything fancy. Read any posted signs at the access point rather than assuming. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Should this one be busy, Big Hill Pond Lake is 1.8 miles off. None of that is settled for Pocahontas Lake in what we hold.
