A wide-open sky and strong sun today, with the water lying quiet as pressure slides. Expect most activity at Lake Ocoee around the weed line and any gaps in it. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Polk County in Tennessee is where Lake Ocoee sits. It lies 823 feet above sea level. This is sizeable water at about 2.9 sq miles, and a boat opens up most of it. The shoreline runs to about 21 miles, far more than one trip can cover. It is the biggest water on our Polk County list. Benton at 5.8 miles is the nearest place to stop. Further out sit Wildwood Lake (14 miles) and East Cleveland (15 miles). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. Points where the flooded channel swings in are the reliable ones. Standing timber shows when the level drops, and fish sit against it. Reported across Polk County: snubnose darter, redline darter and redbreast sunfish. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. The shape of Lake Ocoee rewards a slow walk along one bank.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 76°F, while January sits near 38°F. Warm months push fish deep; cool months bring them back. Heat pushes fish deep from June onwards, so start early. Spring and autumn carry the year; summer squeezes it into the ends of the day. That is the shape of the year on Lake Ocoee.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. McCamy Lake at 3.7 miles is the sensible second choice. Nothing here settles the position at Lake Ocoee for certain.
