Uneven cloud over the water after dark, with a consistent blow out of the NE and pressure sitting still. On Spring Lake, work any hard bottom among the soft first. The productive run goes the day. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

The Orange County end of Florida holds Spring Lake. Salt water lies 35 miles off. Around 38 acres of surface means several distinct areas to work. Start from Orlando, 1.7 miles down the road. Fairview Shores is 2.4 miles away, with Pine Hills at 3.3 miles. Others within reach: Lake Adair just 0.6 miles, Rock Lake about 0.7 miles, Lake Dot just 0.8 miles, Lake Concord about 0.9 miles and Lake Lorna Doone just 1.1 miles. The county line runs close by, so rules can change within a short drive.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Fish reported in the area, according to open records, include bluegill, largemouth bass, redbreast sunfish and Florida gar. The records cover the area rather than this water alone. Treat Spring Lake as a water to read rather than to cover.
Average temperature peaks around 82°F in July and bottoms out near 60°F in January. There is no cold season worth the name. Shade and hour of day matter more than month. February into May fishes hardest as the water warms. Anyone fishing Spring Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Parking is close: a car park sits half a mile from the bank. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Lake Adair at 0.6 miles is the nearest alternative. Nothing here settles the position at Spring Lake for certain.
